Report on CEO Massimo Romagnoli's implementation strategy: DKS Fuels Solution as a pioneer of sustainable aviation supply chains
Under the leadership of CEO Massimo Romagnoli, DKS Fuels Solution DKS Fuels Solution is positioning itself as a key player in the practical implementation of sustainable aviation solutions in Europe and beyond. In view of the EU-wide obligation to use Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) from 2025 in accordance with the ReFuelEU Regulation, Romagnoli is focusing on a clear strategy: the transformation of existing supply chains into sustainable, integrated and future-proof systems.
From regulator to reality: strategic focus on infrastructure integration
Romagnoli recognizes that legal requirements alone are not enough – functioning solutions are needed along the entire value chain. Under his leadership, DKS develops customized concepts for the procurement, logistics and certification of SAF. A central element of the strategy is the use and further development of existing infrastructures to enable a fast, scalable market ramp-up.
Global cooperation, local solutions
The implementation focuses on three strategic core areas, which Romagnoli addresses specifically through international partnerships:
- Securing raw materials: Building strategic alliances with manufacturers of HVO-based SAF, especially those that use waste materials, CO₂ or green hydrogen.
- Compliance management: Development of digital certification systems for seamless traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Risk minimization: Conclusion of long-term purchase agreements to give producers investment security and avoid supply bottlenecks.
Opportunities through complexity: three-dimensional implementation
Massimo Romagnoli does not see the complexity of the SAF market as an obstacle, but as an opportunity. His strategy is based on three central pillars:
- Technology openness: Simultaneous promotion of HVO-based SAFs and e-fuels in order to maintain flexibility in the face of volatile raw material availability.
- Global scaling: Establishment of a network of regional SAF hubs, linked to large international plants – particularly in the USA.
- Cost efficiency: Development of hybrid supply models that intelligently combine fossil and sustainable fuels in the transition phase.
Romagnoli sees DKS Fuels Solution not only as a service provider, but also as a strategic SAF enabler. With a view to the forecast demand of 450 billion liters of SAF by 2030, its strategy is aimed at creating scalable, economically viable solutions. For airlines, this means more than just regulatory compliance – it provides future security through sustainable competitiveness.
